This morning, I had a taste of being on air on International TV. O ha! .

I was interviewed on the TV show “Mornings @ ANC”. The show is hosted by TJ Manotoc, Marieton Pacheco and Ginger Conejero. TJ has a segment called “Tech Talk”. We discussed the Sony Vaio T Series together with Elijah Mendoza, Deputy Managing Editor of technology magazine T3.

Ka Edong of Technobiography, Elijah of T3 Magazine, TJ Manotoc of Mornings @ ANC discussing the Sony Vaio T Series

It was interesting being in a studio like that. Before our Tech Talk segment, the three hosts TJ, Marieton and Ginger were having a healthy banter about “disco” and other references trends of a past generation. That was interspersed between breaking news updates of the siege in Mumbai.

Before breaking for an advertisement, TJ mentioned what was coming up for the tech talk segment. TJ summed up the discussion so well, I’d say he sure knows his technology.

We were called to the stage during the advertisement. It was a very relaxed discussion. We talked about the technology behind the new Vaio T Series, the lifestyle that the T Series could complement. TJ managed the discussion really well putting out questions for both Elijah and I. It was also nice having Elijah alongside as I got to pass on to him the difficult questions of TJ, hehehe .

It was a short 15 minutes. Before we knew it, we were almost wrapping up. This was a good time to mention a Sony contest I joined. The contest asks people to write about their first experience with Sony. TJ recalls the Sony Betamax players where (insert hand gesture here ) the cassette tape is ejected from atop the player – ah, very clanky and mechanical, I recall. Sigh, technology of years past.

My Technobiography shirt did me very well too! I had a shirt embroidered to display my website easily. Perfect! For a few seconds, my website technobiography.com was the only thing on camera and was broadcasted across the globe. Ah, these are good times. I shall do that Technobiography shirt technique again.

Twas a pleasure sharing the stage with you Elijah and TJ! Sayang, I didn’t get to talk to Marieton. There’ll be a next time.

Now, if only I can get hold of a copy of my 15 minutes on ANC. Avvy, balitaan mo ako, ha!

ka edong
kinse me new toes see cat

Nice meeting you Elijah (T3) and Junie (Summit), Vilma (ANC), and Arel of Virtusio PR. I’ll see you again soon. Of course, thanks to the the brilliant brains behind this activity, Roanna, Avvy and Therese. See you next week at the Sony Expo!

Thanks to Baleno for my gwapo plain blue honeycomb polo shirt, VC Trading for the perfect embroidery (http://www.busyPrinting.com, vctradingcubao@gmail.com 0918-923-4883, 2F Farmers Plaza Cubao), the 5-year old little girl who pretended to blow dry my hair with her toy blow drier, my mom and dad for raising me well.

Bagong Tab (New Tab)

Bagong window

Bago window na incognito

Lumikha ng mga shortcut sa application

Alisin (Cut)

Kopyahin (Copy)

Ilagay (Paste)

Hanapin sa pahina

I-save ang pahina bilang …

I-print

Bumubuo

Wala kang nakikitang window? Mag-click dito.

Mabuhay!

Which reminds me, I wonder where the weatherman of Molave dorm, UP Diliman is. He used to track typhoons on a map that he posts at Molave. He puts updates on the map every few hours. I know he setup a weather website. One feature was “track your own typhoon” that lets people watch a typhoon’s movement just like he did back in Molave in the mid 90′s. I think he’s based in bicol state university now.

Hi,

I am going to ask probably the biggest favor I’ve ever asked of you yet. I won’t ask for money or blood =)

Fr. Stephen Cuyos, MSC (www.stephencuyos.com) and I ( www.mabutingbalita.net) collaborated to record (do a podcast of) the rosary in Tagalog and posted it online so anybody can download it for free. Our aim is to get more people to pray the rosary, specifically in Tagalog (though any language would be fine as long as the devotion is practised.). October is the month of the Holy Rosary and we figured that this would be a timely resource for anybody who would like to pray/know Ang Santo Rosaryo.

This is not link bait to get traffic going to our site. You do not even need to mention our names/blogs. We would just like to maximize the people we reach and the lives Jesus will touch through Mama Mary. We’ve placed the files at:

http://www.archive.org/details/HolyRosaryTagalogVersion

Last I checked, there were 228 downloads since we’ve posted the announcement in our blogs. Wouldn’t it be great if mp3 players contained these files too – praying while commuting or waiting? How about the Filipinos abroad who would like to teach their kids Filipino prayers? Or maybe some parish or organization would need assistance to teach praying the rosary?

Any help in spreading the word and devotion would be highly appreciated.

May our Mother, Mary, Queen of the Most Holy Rosary watch over you and intercede for your concerns.

Thanks and God bless.

Have you heard of the Enchanted Kingdom 4-D movie “Pirates”? Do you wonder what a 4-D theater is?

I’ve been to a couple at Universal Studios and was fascinated! So let me describe to you the experience.

First, you get a pair of glasses to watch the movie. The images on the screen + the glasses make the image appear 3 dimensional. In some scenes, you’ll see characters “in-your-face” as if a dragon or a snake or a mummy was just 2 feet away!

Second, the sound is magnificent! You’ll hear helicopters hovering above you, you’ll hear gunshots from behind you, you’ll *feel* the stomping feet of a dinosaur almost hitting you on your head!

Third, you’ll have seats that shake rattle and roll in sync with the movie. So in some movie scenes where you are flying around, you’ll feel as if you’re falling forward (seat leans forward) or flying upward (seat leans backward) or get hit by a train from the side (seat shakes).

Fourth, you’ll have some more tactile sensations. In one scene where there were beetles crawling on the screen (scene from The Mummy), I almost jumped out of my seat when I felt creepy crawlies on my ancles and legs! They turned out to be bursts of plain-air. Sometimes the bursts of air are behind your neck. There are also scenes where a character (e.g. Shrek) sneezes on you and you *feel* his laway! That’s actually a spray of plain-water on your face.

That’s what a 4-D Theater is like. Kewl huh? It’s a fun experience. Try it at Enchanted Kingdom!

Way cool, Bo Sanchez is!

Back in June, I was looking for Filipino Daily Reflections that I could read when I start my day at work.

Arnold sent me a weekly podcast of reflections at Grace Place:

We’re recording the weekly Sunday inspirational messages and posting it as a podcast. Most messages are about 40 to 50 minutes — all practical, inspirational messages.

A few days ago, a friend told me about Bo Sanchez’s new daily video reflections. Bo is a Catholic preacher, publisher, entrepreneur, father, servant-leader and is kengkoy as can be.

On Preacher in Blue Jeans , you’ll find daily videos of Bo going around town, travelling, talking to different ordinary or extra-ordinary people and relating these conversations to scripture.

Tip (Update 25 June 2009): What to do when Preacher in Blue Jeans website is down?

Visit BoSanchez.ph

Search for “Bo Sanchez” on YouTube

It’s all cool, it’s way cool. Considering that YouTube is huge in the Philippines, Bo is on the right track towards reaching an even wider audience for these messages.

Preacher in Blue Jeans started very recently on the November 1. I’m all for it, and I’d like it to succeed, thus I write some suggestions for Bo’s team to improve the spread of these daily reflections:

Improve the video streaming technology. Bottom-line: It’s downloading too slowly on my broadband connection (Smart Bro … hmmm, sounds like Smart Bo!).

Package it for “take-away” reflections for busy people to view/listen/read offline while driving or commuting to/from work. I personally won’t have daily time to download and watch a video at work (it’s taking me more than 30 mins just to download a 15 minute video).

Give your visitors options to get (a) full-resolution video (the current videos you post), (b) low-resolution video, (c) podcasts (audio only), (d) transcripts (text-only), (e) text summaries and also (f) video excerpts for bite-size consumption.

I wish all the best in Bo’s video-cast (a video blog?). Here’s to more network connections in spreading the Word!

I first saw the Taser gun on the 80′s TV show “That’s Incredible”. Basically, it fires two darts that sends an electric shock enough to immobilize a person for a few minutes but without any permanent harmful effects.

Now in Miami, the Taser gun is under scrutiny. This after the gun was used on a six-year-old special child threatening to hurt himself with a piece of glass.

Issue: Was the use of the Taser gun the best option?

Proposed solution to this kind of dilemma: put an audio and video recorder in the gun. This way, the gun-holder is more accountable, what with the unquestionable audio and video recording of the circumstances surrounding each use of the Taser gun.
