Here’s another way of looking at it. If you have P1,000 worth of G-Cash, you can use it to purchase P1,000 worth of load (transfer the airtime load to self or to other subscriber).

The receiving phone gets P1,000 worth of load. And you will have P100 worth of G-Cash remaining. (You sent out P1,000 worth of load but you spend just P900 worth of G-cash).

Loading your gcash account is the same as loading a debit card, the amount you deposited is added to your balance, no interest, no other incentive. The good thing about this is I can use it on other online transactions in the Philippines.

When I called the hotline, they also did not help but instead told me in an apologetic manner that since the wrong number is active, they can’t touch it. But then, that wrong number is not a registered gcash user and “cannot be reached/unattended” so the money is technically still with globe.
Grabe, I have to point it out to them for hours and those 2882 people still don’t get my point. Finally, a gcash supervisor offered to appeal my case to a “higher dept”. But still my money is out there unsecured.

While all that was happening, I also reported my incident using the email on the gcash website.

A weekend later, a globe department head emailed me and referred me to a Muntinlupa BC. After a show of letter and IDs, I got my money back.

I found out while I was in the Muntinlupa BC that Globe forwarded my email to them. Globe’s finance dept. acted on my email report.

Now why did the 2882 people and the 2 makati BCs have to waste my time arguing and making me believe that it’s my problem since I executed the transaction when there is actually a solution. They never once mentioned that emailing will get my concerns to the right people who can actually help.

It was disappointing to hear these frontliners giving me a deadend, and even told me to coordinate with the wrong number and get it back myself. What kind of a solution is that? It’s a good thing I didn’t listen to their reasoning and instead used all accessible means to alert the whole Globe, one is bound to help me out and someone did.

So, this is a big lesson for me with regards to gcash. I’d still use it but this time I know what to avoid.
