International remittance via LBC ATM

by edXcribe on September 22, 2005

There was also an LBC desk at Lucky Plaza, Singapore.

LBC has a service called “LBC Money Remittance”. What caught my attention is the instant remittance via ATM card.

The recipient will need to apply for the card at LBC bank in the Philippines prior to the transaction. When an OFW in Singapore sends a remittance, the amount is reflected in the recipient’s ATM in the Philippines within 15 seconds. The recipient can then withdraw the money immediately from any Megalink ATM (LBC Bank is part of the Megalink network).

As an aside, I was also delighted that that there are financial services for OFWs in Singapore that allow them to send SSS payments to the Philippines. This is what I meant when I wrote in the past that I want the OFWs to control where their remittances go. SSS is a start. G-Cash now allows sending tuition fees to some G-Cash partner-universities. Later on, I’d like to see OFWs being able to send money straight to the hospital (for regular health care of relatives), straight to a bank as amortization for a house, straight to a savings account in the Philippines, or straight to an investment product in the Philippines.

With the emerging technologies, it’s just a matter of time.

my mom sent me a card (lbc remittance) intended for withdrawals only last June but until now ur company was not able to give my mom my own pin that is why until she used to send my money through western union…i was so disaapointed because we’re three who used this before.

ka edong September 5, 2006 at 9:36 pm

hi mirriam,

1.) I’m not connected with LBC

2.) LBC contacts in US: http://www.teamlbc.com/04abtct.html

Or visit the nearby LBC branch and inquire. Goodluck!

ka edong September 5, 2006 at 9:37 pm

in a related story, may naka-sunod ako sa pila ng BPI ATM sa Cubao. She was using an LBC card. She says the remittance she receives through the LBC ATM Card comes from the US. It works for her. Hope it works someday for Mirriam too.

FragileHearT October 10, 2006 at 6:25 am

I guess ur mom has to follow it up with LBC in the US for ur PIN. I have been using my LBC ATM for the past 10 yrs.So, far having the bilis padala is convenient for me. =)

hi, I have an LBC ATM card but I forgot my pin since I havent use it for about 4 years. My Tita who gave me this ATM card passed away 2 years ago. Is there any other way I could withdraw the remaining balance of my account? I appreciate your help.

ka edong January 6, 2007 at 2:39 pm

Best to ask LBC directly. http://www.lbcbank.com.ph/
Goodluck!

sal,
you can call LBC ATM, they will ask some info who is the sender and to whom…. and give your 6 digit card number for verification. you can coordinate sa person na nagopen ng ATM for you para matanong niya kung ano ang PIN number mo.

Im using an LBC Debit card applied from USA by my Brother sent to me here in Manila. For just a matter of minute I can withdraw the money he sent thru megalink, expressnet and bancnet or can be used as cash when paying items bought at any stores that allows ATM. so far i never had a problem with it…its so convenient.

I have a question now: How can somebody in Australia made a deposit to my LBC Account via his VISA Card using internet fund transfer?

ka edong May 24, 2007 at 10:00 am

Hi addie,

Thanks for feedback.
That’s a great question/idea you have there!
And I don’t think there’s currently a solution the way you described it.
But I like how you’re thinking of solutions (australia to phils via Visa + LBC) … I’m sure there’ll be some solutions soon …

ka edong May 24, 2007 at 10:01 am

sorry to hear that, jeff. Sana ma-kuha mo na ang reimbursement mo.

Hi! my aunt sent me door to door money transfer here in the Philippines from Maryland USA through online. But, I don’t know if she sent it to my new address because I just moved in my new apartmet. what do you think I should do? and is it really true that it is a one day processing?

ka edong September 6, 2007 at 10:40 am

my two centavos:

You’re aunt should have a tracking number or reference number, given to her when she sent the money.
Use this number to clarify your situation with LBC. Or your aunt may do the clarification, request for redirection to your new address.

NOW I AM SO PISSED OFF.. STILL MY MONEY IS NOT YET CREDITED IN MY ACCOUNT .. SABI DUE TO MONTH END SYSTEM PROCESS!!! THAT SUCKS!!! SABIA FTER AN HOUR OK NA THEN WHEN I CALLED BACK , ANOTHER 2 HRS , THEN ANOTHER 2 PA .. OMG!! I NEEDED THE MONEY ASAP THATS WHY WE USED THIS ” BILIS PADALA” KUNO… AND EVEN THE PEOPLE WHO ARE ANSWERING THE PHONE WERE NOT EVEN APOLOGETIC TO THE SITUATION THEY WERE SARCASTIC AND THEY DONT HAVE OWNERSHIP .. POOR CUSTOMER SERVICE !!!!

Gina H. Mallari May 26, 2008 at 5:41 pm

Paano kaya yan. Bakit? Kailan sya maview.

ka edong May 26, 2008 at 7:41 pm

@Gina,
Sorry to hear that po.

Subukan niyo pong tawagan ang LBC: (02) 899-86-86 within Metro Manila and 1-800-1-888-86-86 toll free hotline from outside Metro Manila.

ka edong June 1, 2008 at 11:00 pm

Hi jhosa,
I don’t have that kind of information.
Suggest: Your sister can ask her Filipino friends in Korea kung aling remittance service and pinaka-maganda para sa kanila.

Try also some of the online remittance services featured on eOFW.Net:

Goodluck!
