How to Restore the Show Desktop shortcut on Quick Launch Bar
July 21st, 2007 | by ka edong |Every so often, I’d accidentally drag and drop the Show Desktop shortcut away from the Quick Launch Bar and unto my desktop. Dragging it back to the quick launch bar doesn’t return the same functionality. Here’s what I do to restore the shortcut:
Copy and paste the following lines into a Notepad file.
[Shell]
Command=2
IconFile=explorer.exe,3
[Taskbar]
Command=ToggleDesktop
Save the file to your hard disk as “Show Desktop.scf”
Include the quotes when you Save As…., else it might be saved as a txt file.
I prefer saving it in a discrete corner of my hard disk where I can keep it out of sight.
Next left click on the file you just created and drag it down to the Quick Launch bar and release.
Hope that helps.

Alternatively: Cut the Show Desktop Icon from Your desktop and paste it in:
C:\Documents and Settings\YOUR LOGIN\Application Data\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Quick Launch
