Globe Visibility Feedback

October 16th, 2006 | by ka edong |

We like competition! That’s my first take on the entry of Globe in the service of mobile Internet access anytime anywhere.

Globe introduced Globe Visibility around two weeks ago. “The ultimate in mobile Internet”, “Mobile Broadbank with HSDPA”.

What gives? The Globe Visibility flyer says:

  • Surf the internetn through different means – GPRS, EDGE 3G HSDPA, Wi-Fi, and Dial-up with over 270 Wiz Wi-Fi Hotspots.
  • Top speeds of up to 1.4 megabits per second — 25 times faster than dial-up and 4 times faster than DSL (ka edong says: operative words are: “up to 1.4 megabits …”)
  • Flat fee of P2,000/month

My friend Doley has been using Globe Visibility for a few weeks now. Doley says the service is good. Unlimited, consistent speeds, and he was even able to connect seamlessly while in a car cruising down EDSA.

But on another note, not all areas where there’s a Globe signal have a 3G signal. I’m sure the major cities in the Philippines have 3G, but the rural areas are less likely to have 3G and thus won’t have Globe Visibility coverage.

I believe this is why Globe is bundling their Globe Visibility with other internet connection services. So that their subscribers will have alternative ways to connect when Visibility isn’t available.

In all, this is good for competition as PLDT-Smart’s WeROAM was the only provider of similar service prior to Globe Visibility.

I subscribed to Globe’s Visibility service several days ago. My initial excitement died a sudden and brutal death when, horror of all horrors, I was getting timed out more times than I have ever experienced when I was using the legacy dial up technology from days of old.

The current performance of Visibility’s service is almost criminal when one would consider the enticing ads put out by Globe. The speed fluctuates so erratically that I got so disgusted. To think I was just a few meters under the very nose of one of Globe’s indoor 3G antennas in our office building (Tower One Ayala Triangle)

      Potential subscribers, beware!

      Thanks for feedback, Renato

      A little more info:
I heard from a friend that it’s a pain in the bumbum to configure Globe Visibility for Macs and for laptops running on Windows Vista.
Globe Visibility works best daw with HP laptops running Windows XP.

Yeah, you got it. Globe Visibility just won’t work with Vista. They said there’s a plugin (that will make it work with Vista) underway. But that was 2 months ago when he said that. I had to downgrade my Vista-enabled Laptop to XP. Real bummer.

smart bro works with my vista (yung quickfix nila hindi lol) although i still hate vista.

contrary to the “smart broken” story mukhang isa ako sa lucky ones na kayang mag download ng large files at play ng online game all at the same time. kahit may ulan :D

Yup, we’re among the “lucky” and “noisy” ones.
Many of the noisy ones consider themselves “unlucky” and curse the world for it.
I bless the world because there’s such a technology that was made available (at a reasonably cheap price) across the entire country!

The support of Globe sucks!. My company has a corporate account with them and we are having a hard time coordinating with them regarding our problems. We will be switching to SMART soon.

Mga more than three weeks na eh ndi pa rin kami nagkakaayusan.

Tapos I was trying to get in touch with then through our account manager.

I wont touch Globe again.

      Anyone with similar experience?

I have been using Globe Visibility for 1 yr and 3 months, what a disappointing service. Very slow, very spotty, very moddy connection. Sometimes it is workinng… most of times I am below 1kbps (1000 bps). Wow my dial up is faster than Globe Visibility and I am paying 2000.oo php per month…..

      Please don’t subscribe to Globe.

I have called their tech support and wow they seem to not know their product. I claimed for refund and they told me that I have to call another department to do that… what a bureaucratic system they have. Are they using 8080 computer? Or they are just so inefficient?

Then I asked what could be the problem and they told me that field support will check……… for how long?????????? I reported a complain two months back and I don’t have any updates yet…. I even called them almost every week and no update. What a very irresponsible company. They only need my money…not what I am paying for.

I ask if I can disconnect my service because they don’t meet our contract speed anyway. And they told me …NO……….. Why? Because they need your money……

So bottom line, don’t ever ever ever even think of getting this product nor Globe products. They just don’t care about their customers. What they care is only money….

Globe is the poorest of them all. Poor service, poor connection and poor CS. You felt being every time na gagamitin mo 3G nila (if ever na magagamit mo!!!) If ever na may complaint cguro dito mas maganda pa na sa National Telecommunications Commission magreport because of Globe irresponsibility… Hahaha…

it all depends on the location. thats the problem with some people today. they dont evaluate their locations. kahit malakas ang signal sa lugar, kelangan din walang obstructions d ba. aus naman ung speed pag nasa labas me ng bahay, pero pag nasa loob na ako bagsak talaga speed. that goes to show you have to be aware of what you buy.

To those who are suffering a very slow connection or timed out connection with your Globe Visibility plan, you are not alone! I have been experiencing this problem for three days now and counting. Until now no one can give me a definitive answer on why this is happening or what is causing this or what steps they are doing to remedy this. The best advice they can give me is to switch my Huawei E220 connection from HSPDA to GPRS, well that’s one great advice (NOT!). If I wanted to have a slow connection then I would have sticked with a dial-up or at best PLDT’s WeRoam. I do get an HSDPA connection which from their ads I should have a download speed of up to 1.4 Mbps, but sadly I don’t. What I get are error messages like “Page cannot be displayed, or “Timed Out”, or “website taking too long to respond.” In other words no data is being downloaded!

Another thing to note to those of you planning to switch or get a Visibility plan is that they don’t have a technical support hotline. They have people to answer your call but these people are not trained specifically to answer technical queries regarding their wireless data service. I salute these people for trying their best to give me an answer, but this is not what I expected from Globe. They charged everyone who avail of this service 2,000 pesos for installation fee without installing anything but they should at the very least spent that money to train people to assist us, Visibility subscribers.

I am publishing this to serve as a warning to those who are thinking of switching from their current fix wire broadband connection to Globe Visibility. Don’t do it just yet, basing it from my experience with Globe they still are not ready to support this type of service. If having an Internet connection is a necessity for you please veer away from getting this service, stick to fix wire broadband connection.

For me Globe Tattoo works fine to others globe tattoo has a worst service. But it ends up to one thing, your location.

From my home at El Pueblo, Kingspoint Sudb. Bagbag Novaliches signal is always HSDPA. But using it in Muñoz area it always fall on GPRS only and connection is really slow……

SmartBro (prepaid)on the other hand is really slow at El Pueblo, Kingspoint Subd. Bagbag Novaliches. But haven’t tested this yet in Muñoz area.

I’ll try SUN Broadband next to check and finalize which I will subscribe on….. Because I’m using SUN on my mobile and its always on full signal at home.

Bad experience here with Globe Visibility/Broadband. If it is dependent to location, then GLOBE SHOULD NOT ADVERTISE HIGH SPEED THROUGHOUT THE CAPITAL. I-SPECIFY NILA KUNG SAAN SILA MALAKAS OR WHATEVER. Poor customers are wasting a lot of money for their pathetic services. I’m getting FULL SIGNAL but do not receive almost any data at all. So atrocious!!

Well, you can not blame Globe Smart, SUN on thier signal quality. Because there are lots of factor affecting thier service. Like weather condition, your distance to thier cell site, etc.

Just at advise to those havent’ applied or bought a wireless broadband. Test them first before geeting one. Test them all Globe, Smart, SUN wireless broadband kung saan kayo madalas pumunta o tumambay.

Just what I’ve done, hindi ako nagpadala sa mga advertisement nila about thier speed etc. Test it for your self before geeting one.
